What's the Haas effect?

Will the Haas-widened version still sound right in mono?

Not always. When a Haas-delayed stereo file is summed to mono — on many phone speakers, some Bluetooth speakers, or club PA systems — the short delay between the two channels causes comb filtering, where certain frequencies partially cancel and the part can sound thinner or slightly hollow. The plain duplicate has no such issue because both channels are identical. If you know the track will play on mono systems, check the mono fold-down or stick with duplication.
